Diversity Initiatives

The Purpose of the Office of the Associate Dean and Director of Diversity Initiatives is to serve as the University's lead advocate and resource on cultural, ethnic and social diversity issues through the cultivation of close working relationships with students, student organizations, faculty, staff and alum while creating and sustaining a campus environment, inclusive and responsive to diversity, and preparing our students to lead in a diverse world.

  • Creates leadership opportunities that empower and enable students to develop into successful graduates
  • Coordinates, sponsors and collaborates on cultural programs that enrich the diversity within the campus community
  • Provides resources on the diversity within the Pittsburgh community
  • Facilitates diversity training, workshops and special projects
  • Recruit professionals for mentors and guest speakers
  • Collaborate with academic and staff departments
  • Develop programs with student organizations
  • Advisor to the United Black Student Organization
  • Advisor to Blessed, Carlow's student gospel choir
